The Notification Center Apple added in iOS 5 is great, but there’s one obvious shortcoming. Because the company decided not to create HD, iPad versions of its Stock and Weather iPhone apps, Notification Center on Apple’s tablet unfortunately doesn’t feature a stock or weather widget. Even if you’ve managed to find a couple of third-party iPad apps, via which you can get your financial and meteorological fix, Notification Center nevertheless looks rather empty.
Fortunately, the jailbreak community has come up with a solution. Stock NC Widgets for iPad can add both the stock and weather widgets to Notification Center on a jailbroken iPad, provided users are obviously running iOS 5 or above. It’s a simple but effective tweak: once downloaded and installed, no Home screen icon is added to the iPad, nor does a new pane appear in the Settings app. Instead, users have the option of enabling both widgets in the Notifications section of the Settings application, just like you do on an iPhone or iPod touch.
The best news of all? Stock NC Widgets for iPad is available free of charge in the Cydia Store. If you’re rocking a jailbroken iPad, take a look at the new tweak now, and feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
