It’s already possible to play Nintendo games on an iDevice, but such methods require emulator jailbreak packages that are only available from the Cydia Store. However, one new way of enjoying some Nintendo, 8-bit fun on an iPhone is available and surprisingly, it does not require a jailbroken iDevice, according to iDownloadBlog.
All iPhone owners have to do is navigate over to this website in Safari, select the game they want to play, and users should be good to go. The HTML5 website will allow iPhone owners to play the selected Nintendo game from within Safari for iOS: it offers a split-screen, half-controller and half-game screen touch interface, and graphically, the online games aren’t so bad.
But, it’s not all good news. As iDownloadBlog notes:
Now, I use the term “play” very loosely here. After thumb-smashing my way through three Super Mario levels this morning, I’m not sure I want to play anymore. It’s slow. In fact, slow is an understatement. It’s molasses-y.
Fortunately, other games work better than Super Mario, like TETRIS, for example. Either way, folks can enjoy playing this selection of Nintendo games for free on their iPhone. So head on over to this website in Safari on your handset, and take a few of the online games for a spin. Enjoy!
