Jailbreak Only: Play SNES On Your iPad

July 13, 2010

As predicted, Nintendo has made no move to expand into the iDevice market - which means we won't be enjoying officially licensed Mario-oriented gaming on our iPads any time soon. However, for those of you who have a jailbroken iPad (or would ever consider jailbreaking), Lifehacker has a solution for you. In a video (below) posted on its site, Lifehacker explains how to jailbreak your iPad, then how to install an emulator that allows you to play SNES games on your portable iDevice. As you can see from the video, jailbreaking is made easy through the Spirit application, which is available for Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. From there it's a simple matter of installing the emulator through Cydia - the jailbreak app store. But Lifehacker goes one further in teaching users how to sync a Nintendo Wiimote with an iPad, to serve as an external controller and further enhance the gaming experience. Obviously, be very cautious if you do decide to jailbreak your iPad. Remember, if you do, it voids the warranty. For more information, you can take a look at the original article (with step-by-step instructions) on Lifehacker's site, or check out the video below:
