Facebook Messenger 2.0 Delivers New Design, iPhone 5 Support And More
Facebook Messenger for iPhone has just been upgraded to version 2.0. Launched a little over a year ago, Facebook Messenger is a standalone app that serves as an extension of the main Facebook iOS client. As its name indicates, Facebook Messenger is focused on the popular social network's messaging service. It lets you send messages with one of your Facebook friends or a certain group thereof. In addition, it lets you include your location, share your photos, and see who's seen your messages. Version 2.0 of Facebook Messenger introduces a few noteworthy features. Frequent users of the app are likely to notice the app's new design for conversations. Basically, the app now makes use of chat bubbles for individual messages in conversations, akin to those in the Messages app. [caption id="attachment_342756" align="aligncenter" width="320"] Facebook Messenger[/caption] Facebook now also makes use of a right sidebar to let you see who among your friends are available to converse with. To see the right sidebar, just tap the button at the top right corner of the message view. Alternatively, you can swipe left anywhere in the app to make this new section visible. This new section, by the way, lets you add friends you message most often to the top of your favorites list. Said to be more speedy and reliable, Facebook Messenger 2.0 is available now in the App Store for free. The app has also been improved with support for both iOS 6 and the iPhone 5.
