It appears that the release of the Dr. Seuss Bookshelf by Oceanhouse Media was a success as the dominant provider of children’s books in the App Store has launched an organizer for all other omBooks, the OM Bookshelf.

Extremely similar to the Dr. Seuss Bookshelf, the OM Bookshelf also has two different bookshelf sizes, depending on the iDevice. There’s a dual-shelf design for iPhone and a four shelf configuration for iPad. Both layouts incorporate a shelf containing the entire Oceanhouse Media catalog, except for Seuss-related apps, and another displaying all non-Seuss apps currently installed on the iDevice. For easier browsing, the catalog can be filtered by app type, app price, and recommended reader age.

The extra shelves on iPad are for showcasing “Featured” apps in the Oceanhouse catalog and an area to place favorites from your own library. The OM Bookshelf will detect any Oceanhouse Media apps not associated with Dr. Seuss, such as Nothing Ever Happens at the South Pole, Picture Me Dinosaur, Alligator at Saw Grass Road, and Little Critter Collection.

OM Bookshelf is a universal app compatible with iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch running iOS 4.3 or later, and available in the App Store as a free download.
