A week ago, Rovio celebrated the third anniversary of its popular Angry Birds franchise with an “explosive” update to the original Angry Birds game. Now, Rovio has pushed a similarly “explosive” update to one of the older games in the franchise, Angry Birds Rio.

Last updated all the way back in March, Angry Birds Rio is now ready to dance the famous Brazilian dance of samba with new levels and new power-ups:

It’s samba time — with 24 new levels and new power-ups! Angry Birds Rio now has Sling Scope laser targeting and Super Seeds to supersize your birds, PLUS never-before-seen power-ups: Samba Burst and TNT Drop!

The 24 new levels are made up of 18 special Star levels and six Mighty Eagle levels. You can unlock the former set by collecting stars and the latter set by earning feathers.

After installing the update, you also get 20 free power-ups. More free power-ups are available every day, so make sure to play the game daily to get your complimentary Sling Scope, Super Seeds, Samba Burst, and TNT Drop power-ups.

Note that the latter two power-ups are exclusive to Angry Birds Rio. That means you can’t find the destructive Samba Burst and the explosive TNT Drop in any other game in the franchise.

Angry Birds Rio for iPhone, which is now optimized for iPhone 5, and Angry Birds HD for iPad are each available in the App Store for $0.99. The latter is normally priced at $2.99, but it’s on sale for a limited time.

Apparently, all the other HD titles from Rovio are also on sale for a limited time and are available for $0.99 each: Angry Birds HD, Angry Birds Seasons HD, Angry Birds Space HD, Angry Birds Star Wars HD, Bad Piggies HD, and even Amazing Alex HD.
