Thumbs Up, Soldier! Captain America Enters The Avengers Initiative

December 13, 2012
The titular superheroes in Avengers Initiative are gradually assembling as the action adventure game finally gets updated with a new playable character. Released in early September, albeit to a tepid appraisal from my colleague Christine, Avengers Initiative initially sees the Incredible Hulk as he tries to round up a bunch of super-criminals. These villains have just broken out of The Vault, a top secret S.H.I.E.L.D. facility in the Rocky Mountains. Now, following its first major update, Avengers Initiative welcomes the first Avenger himself as a new fully playable character. That's right: Captain America is here to administer his agile takedowns and tactical shield attacks in the second chapter of the episodic Avengers Initiative:
As Hulk rounds up escapees from The Vault breakout, Nick Fury briefs Captain America on a top secret mission: S.H.I.E.L.D. security has been compromised by an unknown traitor and Cap must ferret out the mole to find out who or what is behind this dangerous new threat. Cap takes the fight to an ambushing Hydra Helicarrier and faces a merciless rival.

But fret not, for there's the Hydracarrier to help you go against these baddies. Now optimized for iPad mini and iPad Retina display, in addition to being optimized for iPhone 5, Avengers Initiative is available in the App Store for $6.99. The newly updated Avengers Initiative also includes new Marvel XP audio logs and new costumes for Hulk and Captain America. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
