Forget The Super Bowl: Let Yelp Help You Find Local Bars Screening The Puppy Bowl

January 29, 2013
Super Bowl Sunday is already this Sunday, Feb. 3. And in preparation for the event, Yelp has just been updated with a new filter related to the Super Bowl — if only to a certain extent. Yelp's 6.4.3 update has just arrived, and it includes a new filter for local bars screening … Puppy Bowl IX. That's right. Not Super Bowl XLVII, but Puppy Bowl IX. Now on its ninth year (obviously, unless you're uninitiated in Roman numerals), Puppy Bowl is the most popular counterprogramming to Super Bowl. The show, which is shown on Animal Planet, offers footage of puppies "playing" football in a model stadium. And if you'd rather watch cute canines than burly men at play during Super Bowl Sunday, then Yelp's new filter is just the thing for you. Apart from the Puppy Bowl IX filter, the new update to the popular location-based app also delivers brand new profile pages for iPhone users. Yelp users who have reached Elite status even get "extra bling" on their profile pages. Furthermore, the update designates the best tips in each city and the first tipper for a business as the "Tip of the Day" and "First to Tip," respectively. Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 5.0 or later, Yelp 6.4.3 is available now in the App Store for free. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
