When Calzy debuted in the App Store several weeks ago, I instantly took a shine to it. “I’m loving Calzy’s impressive feature set and especially its simple gesture-based interface,” I wrote. “I reckon it’ll begin to be my calculator app of choice for both iPhone and iPad pretty soon.” Indeed, it has since become my go-to calculator app. And I’m bound to use it even more now that it has just received an update that brings a number of new features.

This new update is already Calzy’s second update. The first one, which was issued just a week ago, added support for the app’s very own URL scheme, prefixed with “calzy://”.

For its part, Calzy’s second update brings a minimalistic full-screen mode battery indicator, spell-out hyphenation, and additional “tweetable” quotations.

The update also makes the calculator keys bigger on the iPad. As well, it brings iPad landscape support, while relegating the spell-out function on the iPad to the rightmost bottom tray button.

Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 5.1 or later, the new version of Calzy is available now in the App Store as a free update or as a new $0.99 download.
