Tumblr For iOS Updated With OS X Fan-Like Post-Type Chooser And App Attribution

May 21, 2013
As you may already know, the popular blogging and social networking platform Tumblr was acquired by Yahoo over the weekend for a reported $1.1 billion. Well, just hours ago, the official iOS app of Tumblr received a new update. But does this update reflect the acquisition in any way, shape, or form? The answer is no, it does not. Clearly, this latest update was developed and submitted for approval before the acquisition was inked. There are no traces just yet of Yahoo, not even of its signature purple, in the newly updated Tumblr iOS app. What the update does bring are "a couple of cool updates." No doubt the "cooler" of the two is the app's new post-type chooser for its iPhone version. Previously, Tumblr for iPhone shows a selection grid of post types that wipes into view from the corners of the screen. Now, the app shows a selection stack of posts types that is reminiscent of the fan content view in the OS X's dock. Tumblr for iPad, on the other hand, still shows the radial selection menu of post types that's apparently inspired by Path's post menu. As for the other change brought by the latest update to the Tumblr iOS app, it simply adds app attribution for posts. Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 5.0 or later, the new version of Tumblr for iOS is available now in the App Store for free. The app's previous update arrived last month and added a new sharing feature, read-later integration, and other improvements. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
