Vevo's 24/7 Music Video Streaming Channel Coming Soon To Apple TV
August 9, 2013
Vevo TV is set to start airing on Apple TV.
According to a new report by AdAge, Vevo is developing an app for Apple's set-top box, and the app is being built upon the existing Vevo TV service.
Launched last March, Vevo TV is essentially a 24/7 streaming channel featuring music videos and specials. It's just like MTV, you know, back when MTV actually meant "Music Television."
Vevo TV is coming soon to Apple TV through the upcoming app from Vevo, which, AllThingsD reports, may be released as early as this month:
Vevo is building the app, after getting a go-ahead nod from Apple, and had planned on getting it on the device this month, according to people familiar with the project. But the app will still need final approval from Apple, which has so far only brought a handful of outside programs to Apple TV.A couple of the more recent additions to the Apple TV platform are HBO Go and WatchESPN. The former allows HBO subscribers to stream content directly from Apple TV, while the latter allows select cable and satellite subscribers to stream live content from ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN3, and ESPN Buzzer/Goal Line. Last month, it was reported that Apple had been working on a deal to bring Time Warner Cable programming to Apple TV.
