My Little Pony – Friendship is Magic, the Ponyville-building game developed by Gameloft based on Hasbro‘s popular animated TV series of the same name, has just received a not-so-little update.

This new update, in particular, is based on the animated musical comedy film “My Little Pony: Equestria Girls.” As such, it follows the film’s basic storyline:

When the sneaky Sunset Shimmer steals Twilight Sparkle’s crown, she has to travel through a mysterious mirror to get it back. But on the other side is a strange new world with all new challenges! Get ready for an Equestria Girls experience that will have you doing the EG Stomp in no time!

In the new version of My Little Pony – Friendship is Magic, you can witness Twilight Sparkle’s coronation as Canterlot’s newest pony princess, complete with a majestic crown and magnificent wings. To commemorate this royal event, you get to use five new decorations.

But the star of the game’s Equestria Girls update is the new Equestria Girls Dance Mini-Game. In this rhythm-based mini-game, you play as the human forms of Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Apple Jack, and Fluttershy.

The mini-game includes four stylish outfits for each character, each with different in-game bonuses. It also comes with three songs (“The Equestria Girls Opening Theme,” “This Strange World,” and “The EG Stomp”) and three 3-D animated backgrounds (one for each song).

The new version of My Little Pony – Friendship is Magic is available now in the App Store for free. The game is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 5.0 or later.
