Peekaboo Sesame Street Pops Into The App Store
Night & Day Studios, one of my favorite developers of children’s apps, has teamed up with Sesame Workshop to unveil a title pretty much any kid should enjoy – Peekaboo Sesame Street. If your kids have played any of the developer’s other apps, this one should be more than familiar. But instead of playing peekaboo with farm animals in a barn, wild animals from the savannah, or even what’s in the refrigerator, Peekaboo Sesame Street focuses on everyone’s favorite lovable Muppet friends. After strolling through the neighborhood, kids are greeted with the famous steps and a set of bouncing doors. After tapping, some classic Sesame Street characters like Elmo, Cookie Monster, Super Grover, Abby Cadabby, and more appear. Even my favorite, Oscar the Grouch, pops up from his usual trash can. All of the voices are authentic, and it’s a great way for kids to help recognize their favorite characters. There are two distinct modes of play - Looped Mode for endless fun or Storybook Mode that ends with Elmo and Abby getting ready for bed. Peekaboo Sesame Street is a universal app designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini. It can be downloaded now for $0.99 as a launch week special and is designed for ages 5 and under. My 3-year-old son definitely enjoyed this app, and I suspect I’ll have a hard time wrestling my iPad away from him this weekend.
