Buycott 2.0 Helps You Boycott Companies That Don't Align With Your Principles

December 28, 2013
The one-of-a-kind barcode-scanning app Buycott has just been updated to version 2.0 with new features and a completely new design. Buycott is not your usual barcode-scanning app in that it's more of a barcode-scanning-for-a-cause app:
When you use Buycott to scan a product, it will look up the product, determine what brand it belongs to, and figure out what company owns that brand (and who owns that company, ad infinitum). It will then cross-check the product owners against the companies and brands included in the campaigns you've joined, in order to tell you if the scanned product conflicts with one of your campaign commitments.
And with Buycott 2.0, it's now easier to find campaigns you wish to commit to. This is thanks to the inclusion of a much-requested text search function. Now, you can just search for campaigns you want to support or "buycott." You can also search for companies and brands you aren't sure yet you want to boycott. In connection to this, the new version of Buycott also includes more brands and companies in its database. Buycott 2.0 also lets you communicate with campaign organizers and other campaign members. But undoubtedly the most noticeable, if not the most notable, improvement in Buycott 2.0 is its total design overhaul, which is, of course, inspired by iOS 7. Buycott's new design features easy access to your timeline along with featured and trending campaigns, as well as to the campaign search and categories and to your profile. Buycott 2.0 is available now in the App Store for free. It's optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 5.1 or later. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
