Has The Release Date Been Leaked For Apple's Next iPhone?
May 27, 2014
Deutsche Telekom is telling customers that Apple’s next iPhone is arriving in stores on Friday, Sept. 19. This information was first posted by apfelpage.de.
According to the report, the German carrier’s support representatives are now telling customers to expect the next iPhone on the third Friday of September. While this could be wishful thinking on Deutsche Telekom’s part, the date is consistent with previous iPhone launches.
Apple has traditionally launched its new iPhone on Fridays. Last year, the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c arrived in stores on Friday, Sept. 20. A year earlier, the iPhone 5 debuted on Friday, Sept. 21. In 2011, the iPhone 4s arrived on Friday, Oct. 14.
Assuming that Apple follows previous release schedules, the “iPhone 6” will launch first in the United States, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, Singapore, and the United Kingdom.
Apple’s next iPhone could be available in two screen sizes: 4.7-inches and 5.5-inches. The iPhone 6 is expected to utilize sapphire glass in its display. This will be produced by Apple in collaboration with the Arizona-based GT Advanced Technologies, and use of the ultra-durable material means Corning’s Gorilla Glass will be dropped from Apple’s iPhones.
