Halftone 2 Now Lets You Turn Your Photos Into Dynamic Comics-Style Videos

June 12, 2014
Halftone 2, the sequel to the popular comics-style photo-editing app Halftone developed by Juicy Bits, has just received an update that adds support for video. Now, with the newly updated Halftone 2, you can turn your comics and scrapbooks into movies with customized camera movement, captions, and sound effects. In making a video out of your photo pages, Halftone 2 lets you specify the order in which the app's virtual camera visits each photo on a page, the speed and motion of the camera, and how long the camera hovers over each photo. The app also lets you choose from 50 sound effects to use for free, with another set of 50 available via in-app purchase. It also allows you to choose a soundtrack for your video with a new "auto stretch" feature that automatically shortens or lengthens the video to match the duration of the song. A video created in Halftone 2 can be exported at a resolution of up to 720p and saved to to the camera roll or shared directly via Facebook, Dropbox, and other compatible apps. • Increased maximum font size by 50% (frequent user request)
  • Added audio sound effect support for each panel with 50 included sound effects
  • Added "auto captions" feature in settings to automatically create captions when photos with descriptions are imported
  • Added panel order to the Effects tab of page options to control how the "camera" visits each panel in a video
  • Added video timing and transition options to the Effects tab of each panel
  • Added soundtrack support for video output
  • Added "auto stretch" feature to shorten or lengthen the video to match a soundtrack
  • Some output options from the last opened document are now automatically applied to the next new document
  • Performance improvements and bug fixes
