This week in accessories: iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus case roundup, part 1

September 12, 2014

It’s time for new iPhones. Earlier this week, Apple officially introduced the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. Both handsets will hit the market next Friday, Sept. 19. Preorders started earlier today. In this edition, we’re focusing on a number of protection options for both new phones. And join us again next week, when we’ll be highlighting even more cases.

X-Doria has a wide lineup of reasonably priced cases available for both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. And as a plus, all these options can be ordered now.

Defense 720: An interesting new case choice, the pictured Defense 720 offers a full-screen hard plastic cover that completely covers the screen, but still allows for full control. The rear of the handset is protected by a grippy and protective bumper surrounded by a sturdy frame. Available for the iPhone 6 only, buyers can select from three colors – black, blue, and pink. It costs $29.99.

Defense 360: Similar to the 720, the Defense 360 lets the beautiful handset shine through with a clear rear and screen cover. Available for the iPhone 6 only, it also costs $29.99.

Engage Folio: Available for both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the Folio also offers complete protection for the handset. The rear is covered by a clear plastic back while the screen can be protected by a leather-like front cover. You can store credit cards or a license in the inside cover’s card slots. It retails for $29.99, and buyers can select from a black, red, or white version.

Dash Folio One: A cousin to the Engage Folio, this case offers complete handset protection with a soft material. Along with credit card slots in the interior front cover, users can position their iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus into a number of media viewing angles. It costs $29.99 and is only available in black.

Engage Plus: Adding a little bit of flair to an iPhone, the Engage Plus is highlighted by its metallic coating across the lower half of the cases and edges. It costs $29.99 and is for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Buyers can select from a gold or silver version.

Spigen SGP is once again well prepared and has a number of cases for both handsets that can be ordered now. Here are some of my top choices.

Tough Armor: This case is one of my favorites for the iPhone 5s/5, and I’m glad to see that it is available for the new handsets. The inner soft shell features air cushion corners and a spider web pattern to help absorb shock. The exterior is made with an hard polycarbonate material. Both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus options retail for $34.99. As an extra-added bonus, the Plus case includes an integrated stand. Buyers can select from a number of colors.

Neo Hybrid Metal: The pictured Neo Hybrid Metal’s diamond-cut aluminum frame helps to give it a premium look and feel. The iPhone itself is protected by a silicone shell with a textured grip in the middle. The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus version both cost $34.99. It’s available in a number of color choices.
