Where and when to purchase a new iPhone 6 on Friday, Sept. 19

September 18, 2014

Did your alarm clock fail you? Do you love the camaraderie of standing in line to get your next iPhone? Tomorrow, Sept. 19 is the day the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus officially (and finally) go on sale around the world.

For those folks who didn’t already preorder a device, we offer this timely guide.

Getting your phone

Apple retail stores and third-party vendors will begin selling the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in the United States, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore, and the United Kingdom, beginning tomorrow, Sept. 19 at 8 a.m. local time.

Last year, Apple didn’t offer preorders on the iPhone 5s until the day of the official launch. This led to long lines outside of stores. This year, preorders began on Sept. 12.

The good news is that we expect the lines tomorrow to be much shorter. The bad news: supplies are expected to be limited, especially on the iPhone 6 Plus.

Score!

You bet best to score an iPhone on Friday is to stand in line outside of an Apple retail store. Those stores will have the best inventory at launch. Also, try to order an iPhone for pickup using the Apple Store app.

Not near an Apple retail store? Get to your local carrier or retail store very early.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus launch in the following countries on Sept. 26: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, and United Arab Emirates.

We’ll be covering tomorrow’s launch, and can’t wait to do so. For this, we’d love your help. Please forward your line photos to us on Twitter @appadvice. Your photo may be published here at AppAdvice!
