Hot on the heels of the hit television show snagging 24 Emmy Award nominations, Telltale has announced that the fifth episode of its Game of Thrones game will arrive on the App Store next week, on Thursday, July 23.

The episode is entitled “A Nest of Vipers.” Here’s the complete description from Telltale:

In this penultimate episode, the actions of every Forrester are vital to the survival of the house. Rodrik’s alliance with House Glenmore, and his defiance of the Whitehills, has drawn the ire of an even greater threat: Ramsay Snow. Far across the Narrow Sea in Essos, with Meereen now a free city, Asher is close to securing the army he desperately needs to return home, and save his family. In King’s Landing, Mira’s activities at Tommen’s coronation have not escaped the attention of Margaery Tyrell, and Cersei has realized that the handmaiden may prove useful in her political games. Finally, beyond the Wall, Gared’s unlikely allies are reluctant to help in the search for the North Grove… but this far into the frozen wilds, Crows and Free Folk have a common enemy; and winter is coming.

Game of Thrones is a universal app designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini. It can be downloaded now on the App Store for $4.99. The first episode is included with the app. Other episodes can be unlocked with in-app purchases of $4.99 each. The best deal is the multi-pack, which includes all five of the other episodes for $19.99.

I’m just a bit behind, and still playing through the second episode of the game, but so far I’ve really enjoyed it. If you’ve played previous titles from Telltale with the same episodic structure, like Walking Dead: The Game, you’ll be right at home with Game of Thrones.

Even though I’m not a die-hard fan of the TV show itself, it has been fun to be in the middle of all the action.
