Want to play Bomberman on iOS and Apple TV? Ninja Boy Adventures is your best bet
Yesterday saw the App Store release of Kill the Plumber World, an “anti-platformer” based largely on Super Mario. Today, we get another iOS game “inspired” by another arcade classic in the form of Ninja Boy Adventures.
It’s the bomb
One look at Ninja Boy Adventures and you’ll know right away that it takes its inspiration from Bomberman, the maze-based strategy video game originally developed by Hudson Soft and now owned by Konami. But while Kill the Plumber World is a parody of the genre popularized by Super Mario, Ninja Boy Adventures is decidedly faithful to the gameplay of Bomberman.
Just like Bomberman, Ninja Boy Adventures basically has you completing maze-based levels by placing bombs to get rid of enemies and obstacles. But the new game lets you do so with touch controls and in different environments featuring modern graphics and 8-bit music and sound effects.

Exploding on iOS and Apple TV
Ninja Boy Adventures comes with a story mode containing 30 single-player levels across 11 zones and three worlds. It also comes with a battle mode that allows for online multiplayer with up to four players at the same time on iOS.
The game, by the way, is optimized for Apple TV as well as iOS. And on Apple’s set-top box, battle mode offers local multiplayer with up to four players.
Either way, it’s great that Ninja Boy Adventures includes multiplayer support, since playing Bomberman with family and friends is part of what makes Bomberman so appealing.
Ninja Boy Adventures also boasts support for Bluetooth controllers, with up to four of them allowed to be connected at the same time.

Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 9.0 or later, and optimized for Apple TV, Ninja Boy Adventures is available now on the App Store for $1.99, with no in-app purchases.
Ninja Boy Adventures looks to be a great game to play if you’ve been wanting to experience Bomberman or at least something like it on your Apple device. It’s a neat alternative especially in the absence of an official Bomberman game on iOS; several official Bomberman games from Hudson Soft and Konami were released in recent years, but they were eventually pulled from the App Store.
