Apple’s iOS/iPadOS 15.1 is Here With SharePlay, ProRes Video Support for iPhone 13 Pro Line

October 25, 2021

Apple has just released iOS and iPadOS 15.1 to users.

You can download the new software by going to Settings > General > Software Update on both an iPhone or iPad.

The major new feature in the software is SharePlay. The feature, originally announced to arrive with iOS/iPadOS 15, was delayed to this release.

With SharePlay, you can watch videos or listen to music with others on a FaceTime call with the media in sync.

Another new feature is support for ProRes video for the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. The Apple codec minimally compresses video but takes up a substantial amount of space.

You can toggle on ProRes support by headed to Settings > Camera. Then select Formats and toggle on ProRes.

Anyone with the iPhone 13 Pro or iPhone 13 Pro Max can now also toggle on and off the Auto Macro that switches to the Ultra Wide lens for macro video and photos. You can find that in Settings > Camera and then Auto Macro.
