On Sunday, May 1, Apple kicked off the next step in its “Shot on iPhone” marketing campaign. With Mother’s Day fast approaching, the latest TV commercial makes use of the upcoming holiday to hit viewers right in the feels.

Rather than having a conventional narrative, like some other recent ads Cupertino has unveiled, the new commercial is comprised of a montage of photographs and videos submitted by iPhone users. The common theme of all of the customer-shot media revolves around the idea of mothers and their children.

In March 2015, Apple launched the “Shot on iPhone” marketing campaign, aimed at showcasing the quality of the cameras in the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Since the launch of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, the ad campaign has been updated periodically with images from both amateur and professional photographers.

Most of Apple’s efforts in the “Shot on iPhone” marketing campaign have consisted of print, Web, and billboard advertisements, so the television spot is a refreshing new spin. The photographs and videos selected for the commercial are certainly high quality examples of what the iPhone is capable of, and they’re quite endearing, as well.
