Cinema 100 Ans de Jeunesse (Cinema 100 Years of Youth) is an international filmmaking education initiative founded in 1995 by the Cinemateque Français in Paris to celebrate the centenary of the first Lumiere Brothers films. The programme now runs in nearly a dozen countries around the world and thousands of keen young filmmakers participate every year. The programme last about 50 hours, over 8 months, during which young people watch, create, and share films and short film exercises all around a specified theme. The themes are always film-specific: ‘Why move the camera?; ‘The real in fiction’; ‘foreground/ background’. At the end of the programme every year, many of the young people convene in Paris to review and share experiences, bringing short films from around the world.

This App was created to enhance the annual course for both young people and the group leaders. The App contains necessary reference materials, filmmaking tutorials, exercises and schedules for each group. The young peoples' own films are submitted and shared through an interface that makes focusing on the content and purpose of the programme effortless.

To start a 100 Ans de Jeunesse group yourself, get in touch with your local national film institute, or contact Nathalie Bourgeois (Director of Education Department, n.bourgeois_at_cinematheque.fr), Educational service of the French Cinematheque, 51 rue de Bercy 75012 Paris.
