Age Check Certification Scheme

Earn extra cash by becoming a mystery shopper of age restricted products like alcohol, tobacco or knives plus many more.

The Age Check Certification Scheme provides independent 3rd party assurance that businesses are appropriately challenging young customers for ID before selling age restricted products, content or services. Our panel of mystery shoppers use the app to choose, manage and update their allocated visits.

You’re in complete control. You decide when you are available for work, which jobs that you want to do and when you want to do them (within a deadline). If you change your mind, it’s no problem, just update the job within the app.

As a member of the Living Wage Foundation we pay the real leaving wage (not the lower one set by government). You’re paid for your travel time and the time it takes to do a visit. You’re also paid a mileage allowance and for the cost of the product that you purchase. What’s more, for most purchases, you get to keep the product (there are exceptions for knives, tobacco, etc). You’ll be paid fortnightly into your nominated PayPal account. If you strike it lucky on a lottery purchase, you get to keep the winnings.

Naturally there are a few rules. You need to be less than two years older than the age restriction that we are checking, so for alcohol in the UK, you’d need to be under the age of 20. We do have roles for older mystery shoppers, so it’s still worth downloading the app and setting up an account.

You’ll be given clear instructions for each type of visit and you’ll have the back-up of our dedicated head office coordination team with any queries.

To set up an account, you’ll need some primary ID (like a passport, driving licence or PASS – Proof of Age ID Card), a PayPal account (you can set one up by downloading the PayPal app) and a smartphone. You’ll also need to be able to get around, by car, public transport, cycling or walking. As you get to decide which jobs you do, then you can select how far you want to travel.
