Anna & Marie - Augmented Reality

Once the app is installed and launched on your device, point it steadily at one of the images. After a few seconds the augmented reality will emerge. Please note that the very first time you run the app, the device needs to be connected to the internet in order to activate the AR functionality. After the first activation, the app can also be used offline.


Anna & Marie is a performative installation that was premiered at the festival Donaueschinger Musiktage in 2019. It took place in the main library space of the Alte Hofbibliothek, a building from the frist half of the 18th C., which used to serve as the library for the noble house of Fürstenberg. For this project, a total of nine illuminated panels made up part of the spatial arrangement of the venue, which furthermore included two projection screens, anatomical dolls, light design, and bean bags for visitors who wish to sit or lie down. Tablets were scattered throughout the space, ready to be picked up by visitors. When they were pointed at one of the nine panels, visual elements, sounds and texts were generated on the tablets as augmented reality. While this is only one of several simultaneous elements that characterize the project Anna & Marie, we have included the augmented reality part in the book LUDIFIED in order to make it possible for the reader to experience the interactive aspect that characterizes this part of the work.
