App Store Description

Antique & Silver is designed as a useful reference and tool kit for anyone interested in either Antiques or Silverware, it doesn’t matter whether you are an eager beginner or an experienced professional dealer. The application will provide you with four indispensable functions that are individually optimised to fit the device you are using wether iPhone or iPad, this is to make access to all information as smooth as possible with the minimum of scrolling.

1: A completely new reference to British Silver Hallmarks with search and browse facilities. All the marks have been especially drawn by the author to a high resolution with the aim to make identification of hallmarks as easy as possible. The database covers the eleven major assay offices and dates from 1478 to 1999. There are in the region of 10,000 images split into artistic impressions of each mark and photographic examples where available. You can either browse through the marks for each assay office or search for individual letters or other symbols like differing silver standard marks, town marks, duty marks, import marks and more. If you need to look closer simply double tap on a mark to view a four times bigger version. In addition to the marks themselves the app contains historical information about each assay office and for each cycle of hallmarks issued by that office.

2: A British Registered Design Diamond translator that will give you the registration date, class, and parcel number for any valid design diamond.

3: A British Registered Design Number translator that will provide the date of registration for any British registered design number.

4: A weight converter that also calculates the value of any two materials given their value per gram. It will convert weights between grams, ounces avoirdupois, troy ounces, pennyweight, and carat. You can set the two material values for instance to your scrap values for Silver and Gold or to your Buy and Sell value for any material of your choice. Entering the weight of an item will then instantly give you the working totals.
