The Johns Hopkins Atlas of Appendiceal Pathology is the eighth teaching app in our series from the Johns Hopkins University Department of Pathology. This app is designed to teach residents, fellows, and practicing pathologists the pathology of the appendix. The app covers non-neoplastic and neoplastic appendiceal pathology, with a focus on appendiceal mucinous neoplasms. We recognize that the terminology for appendiceal mucinous neoplasms can be daunting for trainees as well as practicing pathologists, as there are several different classification systems. We have chosen to primarily use the World Health Organization classification system (5th edition), but have included synonymous terms used by the Peritoneal Surface Oncology Group International (PSOGI) where appropriate. We have included three modules in the app: a searchable image atlas, a flash card module, and an image-based quiz.
We welcome your feedback. Please e-mail Dr. Hruban (rhruban@jhmi.edu) or Dr. Jacqueline Birkness (jbirkne1@jhmi.edu). If you find an error, please let us know so we can correct it.
