Arc Flash Power Tools

by Octagon Seven LLC

What is it about?

Arc Flash Power Tools is a system modeling tool for short circuit and arc flash calculations. It models an electrical distribution system to determine the available fault current and arc flash potential anywhere within the system. This useful tool helps Engineers, Electricians and Facility Managers evaluate if devices and equipment such as panelboards and switchboards are rated to meet the maximum available fault current and to prepare arc flash labels as well.

App Store Description

Arc Flash Power Tools is a system modeling tool for short circuit and arc flash calculations. It models an electrical distribution system to determine the available fault current and arc flash potential anywhere within the system. This useful tool helps Engineers, Electricians and Facility Managers evaluate if devices and equipment such as panelboards and switchboards are rated to meet the maximum available fault current and to prepare arc flash labels as well.

Remove uncertainty of compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E and OSHA for arc flash labeling requirements. The world’s easiest to use arc flash and fault current calculation and labeling tool!

Using a typical one line diagram approach, system information can be easily entered and an entire radial system can be easily evaluated. This app can model AC system 600V or less including 208V, 240V, 480V and 575V systems.

An easy to use develop arc flash label calculator and label generator. Input the necessary information into the app and it will generate a PDF label using NFPA 70E. Support for circuit breakers: MCCB, ICCB & LSI (Electronic LVPCB) and fuses by Cooper Bussmann, Ferraz-Shawmut and Littelfuse including Classes: RK1, RK5, L, J, CC, T & H. Wide support for different overcurrent protection devices and pre-programmed models are setup for easy use.

Arc flash label calculates and includes: Incident Energy [cal/cm^2], Arc Flash Boundary, Limited Approach Boundary, Restricted Approach Boundary, Hazard Risk Category, voltage and short circuit current. Labels output 4 per sheet using standard 4 label template.

Reports: Output arc flash and short circuit current reports.

Methodology Short Circuit Current: The internationally recognized per unit (X & R Networks) methodology is used to calculate available fault current from Utility Transformers, Generators and Inverters. Additional resistance and reactance factors from conductors, buses and switches are calculated throughout the system. Per unit calculations provide superior model accuracy by independently calculating resistance and reactance throughout the electrical distribution system to develop X & R at each device. Meets ANSI C37.13 Low voltage equipment standard for 3 phase symmetrical fault current

Methodology Arc Flash: Arc Flash calculations are based on NFPA 70E standard.

This app can can be used to help prepare arc flash labels for panelboards and switchboards. help determine NEC (NFPA 70) and OSHA short circuit current ratings (SCCR), Ampere Interrupting Capacity (AIC) & Interrupting Rating (IR) for over current protection devices (OCPD) and associated equipment such as panels, switchboards, transfer switches, riser buses, disconnect switches, fuses and circuit breakers in systems 600V or less.

To protect your facilities operational reliability, increase up time and increasing worker safety, ensure your equipment has adequate SSCR & AIC rating to meet short circuit current! Fault current finder is the easiest fault current tool!

Requires Mail app configured for outgoing email.
