Art Stories FACES

With Art Stories FACES, children play with 30 portraits by famous artists. Each painting sets a simple challenge, and leads children through a different aspect of visual language.
They learn how to watch details and discover the overall design; read volumes for understanding shapes; pay attention to colours and their composition; discover there is a meaning in each element and a story behind the painting. By playing with the portraits, children gain stickers that unlock the paintings’ secrets.
So, by watching and playing, kids discover how people loved to represent themselves: no portrait will ever look the same!

Portraits have been picked amongst the vast digital archives some institutions have opened to the public for free. We have chosen portraits in Europeana, in the Metropolitan Museum of New York and in the Riksmuseum in Amsterdam.
