Explorers Wanted! Now with expanded solar system content!
Two brand new missions and one expanded mission cover topics like terraforming, comparative planetology, geological activity from tidal interactions between planets and moons, and cryovolcanism. New solar system objects in Exploration Mode allow students to explore the solar system on their own or guided by their instructor.
Want to explore the known universe as a search, survey, and rescue contractor? At Play in the Cosmos lets you do just that. Along the way, you’ll search for habitable exoplanets, survey stars, blow things up, and possibly save the universe.
You’ll need to navigate the universe and apply the laws of physics to succeed at mission challenges. Along the way, you’ll need to find fuel for your thrusters and materials for crafting upgrades to your ship.
The many places you’ll visit are all based on real astrophysical objects. And the game includes plenty of reference material to help you, such as 28 interactive simulations and a database of astronomy terms.
At Play in the Cosmos is fun for all ages, but it’s designed for students taking introductory astronomy courses. The game is free to download, but in order to play, you’ll need to have a valid W. W. Norton account. Access may come with your Norton textbook. You can register or obtain access at digital.wwnorton.com/cosmos.
