Der LCH ist die Dachorganisation der Lehrerinnen und Lehrer Schweiz und schliesst kantonale Lehrerinnen- und Lehrervereine sowie schweizerische Stufen- und Fachverbände zusammen. Der LCH wahrt und fördert die Gesamtinteressen aller Mitglieder, ist föderalistisch und demokratisch organisiert, unterhält ein professionelles Sekretariat und eine Pädagogische Arbeitsstelle.
Der LCH ist ein pädagogischer, standespolitischer und solidarischer Verband, bietet attraktive Dienstleistungen an und ist politisch wie konfessionell unabhängig.
