The Blessings of Comfort App contains the traditional musical and prayer elements of a Jewish funeral service.
The App begins with universally recognized words — translated into every language — that are most associated with comforting a mourner. Psalm 23 is considered by many to be the most recited, memorized, and beloved of the 150 Psalms.
Using the traditional Jewish mournful mode, Hazzan Perlman chants an original offering that attempts to spiritually heal the open wound in the mourners' hearts.
The second blessing offered by the cantor is a traditional rendering of the Hebrew Memorial Prayer, known as the Eil Moley Rachamim: We lift our sinking hearts heavenward to the Comforter of Comforters, the Creator and Designer of all life, seeking a Holy and Sacred place to share our pain with the only Being in the universe who knows us so completely.
The final prayer offering is a specialized version of the Mourner's Kaddish that displays the ancient Aramaic words as the Cantor recites them, followed immediately by an instructional accompanying reinforcing echo that resounds as the listener repeats the words with him.
