BSL Finger Spelling

Dear Learner,
Welcome to Finger Spelling in British Sign Language where you get to watch live fingerspelling to help improve your receptive skill.
This app is designed for level two students who need to read the fingerspelling in a video story assessment (unit 201) and in a conversation (unit 203). It is also suitable for level one improvers or level three beginners.

There are 70 tests in total, each test containing 20 words or phrases. Most of the tests are lists of single words, but some have two or more. Some are short sentences and proverbial sayings. These will be more challenging and you will probably have to watch a few times.
This app has been produced in response to student feedback, as many feel they lack opportunity for receptive practice.
The fingerspelling is presented with a natural hand position. This is in line with how it is presented in assessments. You will see most of the letters clearly, but some will be more of a challenge, and will require you to work out letters you cannot quite see, using the letters you do know.

This app has been produced without the usual clues from lip pattern. This will improve your fingerspelling skill more rapidly as their will be no help from lip reading.
