BUOY’S MAIN FEATURES

SHARE YOUR LIVE LOCATION
Buoy allows you to share journeys in real-time. You’ll be able to share the route you are taking with a contact or contacts of your choice. They can also see important information: such as your live ETA, battery life, and signal strength.

GUIDE YOU HOME
Buoy offers simple trip planning combining all transport modes: bus, tube, driving and walking. Hit the ‘Start Journey’ button for step-by-step directions to your destination. We offer turn-by-turn navigation for all your public transport, walking, or driving trips. Choose between 2 different map views.

NOTIFY YOUR CONTACTS
When you select someone as an emergency contact, they’ll be notified automatically by push notification or by text message of certain events that may occur during your journey or route home.
• When you start a journey
• If you deviate from your route significantly
• If you don’t arrive home
• If you activate Panic Mode.
• When you’ve arrived home safely

MONITOR YOUR ROUTE
We have built a deviation algorithm. If you are wondering what on earth that means, you are not alone. Simply, it allows us to tell if you have significantly changed course from the original destination and notify your chosen contacts on your behalf. Imagine you are in a cab and they drive completely the wrong way, we will alert you to the deviation and let your chosen contacts know.

PANIC MODE
Feel unsafe? Been the victim of a crime? With Buoy, you can activate panic mode to alert your emergency contacts of your situation. We have got you covered.

SOLVING THE PROBLEM
We realise that Buoy is merely a plaster for the wider issues around individual safety. With this in mind, a percentage of Buoy’s profits will go directly to charities and organisations aimed at solving the root cause of the problem to amplify our impact.

THE JOURNEY - FROM START TO HOME AND SAFE

A JOURNEY SUGGESTION
Say you leave a bar late at night, Buoy will identify that you’ve left and that you’re possibly walking or in a taxi and will automatically suggest you start a journey on Buoy to let your emergency contacts know where you are.

A LIVE JOURNEY
Your chosen emergency contacts will then be able to watch you progress to your destination - if they don’t have the Buoy app downloaded, they’ll be able to view the journey in Buoy’s web portal. If you go off course or miss your ETA, Buoy will automatically notify your emergency contacts that you are not home and safe.

NOTIFY FRIENDS OR LOVED ONES WHEN YOU ARE HOME
When you reach your destination, your emergency contacts will automatically be notified that you got there. You’ll also be prompted to manually report if you got in safe or not as an additional layer of security.
