App Store Description

CanGo was developed by CanAssist at the University of Victoria. At this time, it is intended to be used for academic research and supports travel in Victoria, BC only.

CanGo promotes independent community access by helping people with cognitive challenges take the bus. Entering trip information may require the intervention of a caregiver. For example, a trip may include landmark-based checkpoints, which have a description, picture, and left/right orientation. CanGo uses this information to provide real time updates, and to notify the user when it is time to ring the bell and disembark.

Please note that CanGo uses GPS. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

*** WHO IS IT FOR? ***
CanGo is especially beneficial to people who have difficulty or experience anxiety taking the bus, including those with:
- Brain injury
- Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder
- Developmental disabilities
- Dyslexia, literacy challenges, etc.

*** KEY FEATURES ***
- Nearby stops, and the corresponding upcoming bus times
- Real time information, including:
1) instructions (i.e., "Stay on the bus")
2) trip progress (i.e., stops left), and
3) notifications (i.e., passing checkpoint, ring the bell)
- Calling/texting helpers without leaving the app

*** CANASSIST at the UNIVERSITY OF VICTORIA ***
