If your cable has an Intertek/ETL Certification, the app has a link to ETL’s website to search the ETL Listed Mark Directory for your cable certification.
The app also provides many tips on how to avoid the huge amount of non-compliant, counterfeit, and under-performing cable currently being sold on the market, the majority of which is being sold via online distributors. It shows what to look for in checking the fire safety compliance of UTP communications cables.
Anyone who uses structured cabling must be aware of what they are installing, recognize the risks of using “bad” cable, and understand how they could be liable if something goes wrong. Ultimately, it is the purchaser and installer that bear the legal responsibility for the product.
The CCCA CableCheck app is a convenient field screening tool for installers, inspectors, and end-users.
