After proposing a game, once a game is accepted, you will see a Chewker board and will begin playing Chewker! The game follows the basic rules of Chess, until it is time to take a piece. That's where the Euchre card game rules come in

Each player is dealt a hand of 5 cards, placed below the board, which are replenished only after all 5 are used up. Every time a piece is attacked, each player will play 1 card to determine the outcome

After each player has used up 2 hands each (10 cards) then the deck is reshuffled. Cards used in the 1st hand of each shuffle will not be seen again in the 2nd hand. A player also has the option to swap out one card from their hand only once per hand dealt

Card rules are determined according to the rules of Euchre, with cards from 9 up to Ace, where trump suit cards are ranked above non-trump suit cards, and trump suit is determined by the intended board square of the attacking player

Card ranking is as follows:
1) Jack of trump suit
2) Jack of same-color alternative-suit as trump (the "left bower")
3) Ace of trump suit down to 9 of trump suit
4) Ace of attacking card suit (card thrown first) down to 9 of attacking card suit
5) All other cards

In Chewker, as in Euchre, the defending player(s) must follow the card suit thrown, unless they don't have the offered suit, in which case they may play any card in their hand

Unlike in Chess, in Chewker an attacking player can lose their piece from the board if their card is beaten by the defending card. This opens up new ways of checkmate (victory), such as when a player ends their turn in check by losing a piece guarding their King from check when trying to attack

The final remaining rule, perhaps the most vital, is King's Right. This gives the king the option to change the suit of any card in their hand when attacking or defending. If the opponent plays the true card matching the King's false card, the true card remains victorious
