Chemelot Innovation and Learning Labs (CHILL) is a collaboration between SABIC, DSM, Leeuwenborgh Education, Arcus College, Zuyd University of Applied Sciences and Maastricht University, and is located on the Chemelot Campus in Geleen. Chemistry is one of the government’s top sectors and provides a large contribution to the economic development and strength of the Netherlands. The South of Limburg leads the way in innovative process technology and life & material sciences. CHILL, a part of the top sector policy of the Dutch government, has a clearly defined part to play in this:
We provide an innovative, learning, work and research environment where education ( both college and university) and business ( from small, local businesses to multi nationals) work together to develop knowledge and new products.
We ensure that there are enough excellently trained people available for the sector.
We contribute towards the positive profiling of modern chemistry and its role in society today.
What does this mean in practice?
Businesses with questions about innovative process technology and life & material sciences can now use CHILL to get the necessary answers. Small companies frequently have the best ideas. Often enough the problem is that they don’t have the laboratory facilities, the manpower or the necessary testing equipment. CHILL can assist as an external R & D department. Some companies have ideas for the application of a product, but just can’t get to the next level. CHILL can also help with this.
Obviously, CHILL is also for the purpose of education and students. Whether it’s college or university students, at CHILL, everybody works together in teams, in a real work environment on real solutions. They do this together with specialist from both the education and the business sector. During this, they don’t just work, they network, make new contacts and build a stronger foundation for the future of chemistry. In this inspiring and creative environment we work on real, valuable projects. Projects that lead to products that contribute towards a sustainable, safer and cleaner world.
