Cold FAid: First Aid for Colds

The Cold FAid® kit & mobile app mitigate the duration & severity of a cold to get you back to work, school, family life sooner. The critical importance of early treatment & consistency with medication administration is key to this product's success. The medications need to be started within 24-48 hours of the first signs of a cold (sore throat, runny nose). The medications target:
(1) the virus to block attachment/replication &
(2) the body to minimize its inflammatory response.
Thus, the goal is to achieve an early antiviral effect & to maintain open upper airways, lessening the chance of complications.

THE KIT: The kit includes a research-based strategy, 4 over-the-counter medications, & a travel case for all-in-one, simplified cold relief. The medications are: first-generation antihistamine, nasal decongestant, anti-inflammatory, & zinc lozenges. All medications are made by leading US drug manufacturers.

THE MOBILE APP: The mobile app ensures timely & proper administration of each of the kit's medications as you receive reminders on what to take, when & how to take it. This makes cold relief easy.

Smartphone reminders alert you that it is time to take a medication at the designated right time & deliver directions for taking with/without food or other restrictions.

LET'S BEGIN: You will be asked to 'Allow notifications'. This permission is required for the app to function. Your agreement with our Privacy Policy/Terms & Conditions are also required. These policies are provided for your review. We use anonymous analytic data with which you have the option to participate.

SET YOUR SCHEDULE - Morning Notification Time: The time you select indicates when you will receive your first reminder of the day. This sets your 16-hour wake time, 8-hour sleep time schedule when using the app for this cold episode. You will not receive any notifications during sleep time.

OUR STRATEGY:
For Days 1-3, get reminders (as directed by the strategy) for all 4 medications in the kit - zinc lozenges, antihistamine, decongestant PE & pain reliever (NASID).
For Days 4-7, continue to get reminders for 2 medications - Decongestant PE & Pain Reliever (NSAID). These reminders are displayed for up to 7 days after cold onset if you continue to experience symptoms. Once Symptoms have cleared, discontinue medication & turn off reminders (on reminder screens) as noted:
DECONGESTANT PE: Once nasal congestion & sinus pressure clear, discontinue this medication & turn off this reminder.
PAIN RELIEVER (NSAID): Once aches & fever clear, discontinue this medication & turn off this reminder.

REMINDERS: Once a Cold FAid® Reminder is displayed, tap 'Take Now' & consume that medication.

Reminders are displayed for 10 minutes. If you do not take the medication within 10 minutes of the reminder, do not take the medication. Wait for the next reminder. 'Missed Dose' will be recorded in My Data.

Multiple reminders may be displayed sequentially. Consume medication in the order in which reminders are received.
