The Danvers Family Festival app will provide the Town of Danvers and local communities information on the over 30 held over a two week period each summer.
The concept of the Danvers Family Festival began as a discussion at a friendly business meeting between the editor of the Danvers Herald, Joe Fenton, and Danvers Selectman, John Webb. The year was 1976, and plans for the bicentennial parade brought forth the idea of a week of events dedicated to the families of Danvers.
The week preceding the Fourth of July was the natural choice. In 1976, there was currently a popular event that had already become a mainstay in the community, The Polish Block Dance and Land ‘n Sea Race.
A dedicated community group of volunteers formed a committee. This committee worked tirelessly to make possible the first Danvers Family Festival in 1979.
We are so grateful and blessed by the generosity of local businesses, residents and volunteers! Every year we are thrilled and honored to be supported by so much of our local community. Because of their support we are proud to be able to offer many of our events and activities for little or no cost.
On behalf of the entire Danvers Family Festival team, we thank each and every one of you.
Something for everyone!
