DemCon

DemCon is a news and information aggregator that goes beyond the boundaries of the mainstream media and the never-ending sea of sensationalist news. The app covers U.S. based news and politics, and highlights how the politicians and their policies affect our daily lives. We are politically independent and free from the influence of any political party, corporation, or government body. Our focus is to inform and educate our users and provide them with a wide variety of relevant information to let them decide for themselves how they align with certain issues. We do not rely on AI to deliver any of our media and our content is handpicked by humans.

When a user downloads DemCon, they choose their political party and political news preferences (Left-ish 180° view, Right-ish 180° view, and Both Sides 360° view) which controls their main news and video feeds and is indicated by the blue, red or purple dot.
Facts, quotes, and definitions are packaged into bite size info-snippets, making the media more digestible. We re-publish this content alongside news and videos to create an educational mobile environment.
Our thematic categories were carefully crafted by our custom editorial curation and research team. They provide our users with a 360° view. In V1 of the app users can sort media by selecting Addiction, Cartoons, Crime, Democracy, Economy, Education, Environment, Fair Trade, Homelessness, Immigration, Inspirational Quotes, Law, Mental Health, Military, Parenting, Physical Health, Technology, Travel & Recreation, Veterans or Witty. We will also have a category called + tive which is dedicated to positive news and uplifting media.
We also have state categories that not only contain state news and videos, but also important facts, quotes, history points, politicians and jobs relevant to the state.
We ask for user location to provide location based features within the app, eg. jobs and events that are within a certain radius of your location.
Users can answer survey questions about significant issues, and give their insights on real-time polls on our senior elected officials.
We do not sell personal data.
Within DemCon users can click on the marketplace to find jobs, events and products that align with the themes, eg. political events and memorabilia, jobs for veterans in New York, or environmentally friendly products.
