What is it about?

The App to 'Den Lille Kunstelsker’ / ‘The Little Art Lover' focuses on play and learning. The App has two main features; SCAN & LISTEN and PAINT & LISTEN. In SCAN & LISTEN, you can take a photo with the iPhone / iPad, for example of a piece of art and afterwards hear the sound interpretation of it. In PAINT & LISTEN you can, by using a color wheel, put new colors on a series of paintings. Listen again to how your artwork sounds. Your tone painting can be saved as a ringtone and send to a sound gallery on www.denlillekunstelsker.dk. The transformation of image to sound is based on the idea that the colors in a painting can be interpreted through tones - and that tones can be interpreted through painting. The sounds in the App are generated digitally and are based on the experiments of 12-tone music's, as it developed in the 20th century. The artworks found in the App are rooted in Danish and international modernism. Each artwork is accompanied by an informative text. The original paintings can be seen at the Museum of Religious Art, Holstebro Kunstmuseum, MUSE ® UM, HEART - Herning Museum of Contemporary Art and at Carl-Henning Pedersen & Else Alfelts Museum.
