What is it about?
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease characterized by an increase in blood glucose (sugar) above normal levels. Affected people need ongoing and long-term treatment, as well as periodic self-monitoring of blood glucose (GSM) mainly, but also of other clinical and metabolic parameters, such as body weight, food ingested (measured in carbohydrates), blood pressure, medications used, insulin dose and physical activity performed.

Diabetes Link is a comprehensive platform for control and monitoring people with DM. Diabetes Link allows recording various parameters relevant for the treatment and calculating different statistical charts using these. In addition, it allows connecting with other users (supervisors) so they can monitor the controls. Unlike other available options, Diabetes Link offers all its functionality for free, and it is available on multiple platforms.
Features
• Recording relevant information for metabolic control: Record of blood glucose measurements, ingested carbohydrates and injected insulin. For each variable, the time of day (before/after breakfast/lunch/snack/dinner) can be included, and additional comments can be added to help understand the information entered (for example, the person was at a party and ate in excess, or they had a long work day and did not eat food for several hours).
The application also allows recording medications, physical activity (detailing intensity and duration), and other relevant parameters, such as body weight or blood pressure.
• Analyzing recorded information: Access to statistical charts that allow analyzing the evolution of blood glucose, body weight, BMI and blood pressure.
• Weekly summary of daily records: Access to tabulated summaries of recorded information detailing, for each day and meal, physical activity, ingested carbohydrates, and blood glucose and injected insulin measurements before and after each intake.
• Connection with monitors. Users can authorize third parties to access their records and monitor their evolution. While it is specially designed for physicians to access patient data and statistics, any user can be granted access. For instance, parents can monitor how their children with DM are controlling the disease.
• Web access. In addition to the mobile application, there is a web portal that offers a more user-friendly view of the information and statistical graphics.
• Setting target values: Not all patients need the same level of control. Diabetes Link allows setting target values for blood glucose and blood pressure to customize the statistical analysis.
• Support for different units of measurement: User can choose their preferred units of measure for blood glucose (mg/dL or mmol/L) and weight (kg or lbs).
