***********************

Created by Listening and Spoken Language Specialists in conjunction with Early Childhood Teachers, I’m a Dingle Dangle Scarecrow is a highly interactive learning experience. The app is full of wonderful educational ideas, animated interactive games, and engaging sounds to encourage the development of listening and language skills in young children. Families of children who have reduced hearing or language problems will find the app particularly useful.

I’m a Dingle Dangle Scarecrow has been designed as a cooperative app for parents and children so they can participate in a variety of shared activities together.

The app is divided into three sections:

1. Ideas
This section provides strategies and techniques, including instructional videos on how to use I’m a Dingle Dangle Scarecrow to develop listening and language skills. This is achieved through interactive play, craft, and ideas on how to sing the song differently. These ideas are grouped together depending on your child’s language level:
-Emerging language
-Putting words together
-Putting sentences together

2. Interactive games
There are two fully animated games that target different levels of listening and language skills. With help from mum or dad, your child can choose to play a game that either consolidates or extends their current listening and language abilities. The games are:
-Build a scarecrow
This game introduces the concept of a scarecrow, his characteristics, and his purpose in a fun, highly interactive way.
First, build a scarecrow by choosing its head, eyes, nose, mouth, ears, hat, and body. Then, shake your scarecrow’s hands, arms, feet, and legs to scare away the crows!
-Where do they sleep
Locate where farm animals, including those in the song, sleep. This game extends your child’s vocabulary and understanding of farm animals by learning where they sleep.

PLEASE NOTE: Games are not compatible with iPad VoiceOver screen reader.

3. Music and karaoke
Learn the lyrics to I’m a Dingle Dangle Scarecrow. A karaoke style sing-a-long with music and lyrics is a great way to involve your child in singing.
