App Store Description

The DTC1 app is the official app for participation in the DTC1 pilot, which is a pilot organised by the Central Government and KLM and developed by Idemia.

This app can be used by KLM passengers aged 18 and over, who hold a Dutch, Belgian or Canadian passport who fly from Canada to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and who wish to participate in the Digital Travel Credential (DTC) pilot.

Pilot participants on a KLM flight from the airports of Calgary (YYC), Edmonton (YEG), Montreal (YUL), Toronto (YYZ) and Vancouver (YVR) can share their DTC with the border control authorities (Royal Netherlands Military Constabulary or KMar) prior to the border process. In addition, pilot participants with a flight from Montreal (YUL) can also share their DTC with KLM to expedite the boarding process.

Purpose of the DTC pilot
This app can be used to create a DTC1, which is a copy of the digital information stored on the chip of a passport. A DTC makes it possible to carry out processes at and around the border more effectively and more efficiently by the border control authorities and the airline company (KLM). This means that various checks, which are normally performed at the border, can be carried out at an earlier stage. Participants in the pilot also need their physical passport for the pilot.

Pilot process
When generating the DTC, the pilot participant is requested to make a selfie, this photo is compared to the photo in the passport chip. This prevents persons other than the passport holder from creating a DTC. Information can then be shared before the trip with the KMar before the border process and/or KLM prior to the boarding process.
Upon arrival at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, pilot participants can proceed to a point set up specifically for the pilot at the border. Here, the DTC is retrieved using a facial scan. Most of the border control process has already been carried, on the basis of the DTC, out before the traveller reaches the border. It is checked at the border whether the DTC belongs to the passport presented by the traveller by holding the passport to a 'tap&go'. The traveller can cross the border following this verification.

Data processing & Privacy
(Special) personal data are processed when using the DTC app. Processing takes place in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation.
