Due to dementia, some elderlies are not able to find their way home after they leave home alone. According to Bukit Panjang Neighborhood Police Centre, there are more than 10 cases of missing persons, mostly elderlies, in the year 2015. For each case, a large number of policemen and volunteers are mobilized to search for the missing person.
In this project, a solution is proposed to track a missing elderly which may contribute in locating the missing persons.
This solution uses beacons to tag elderlies who may potentially lose their way home. A mobile app is developed to detect these beacons. Volunteers can install this app on his mobile phone, which will run in the background upon restarting of the phone. When a volunteer comes across a missing person, the app will detect the beacon signal and report its location to server.
