Microgreens can boost colour, enhance flavour, and add texture to any dish while delivering a nutritional boost.

What are Microgreens?
Healthier Than Vegetables
They are smaller, even tiny, compared to their adult counterparts. But size aside, a study of 25 varieties of microgreens by the US Department of Agriculture showed that microgreens have more nutrients than the mature leaves of the same plant*. Nutrient levels differed, depending on the microgreens, but they typically had higher levels per gram of Vitamins, C, E and carotenoids than mature crops.

Safer Than Sprouts
Microgreens are often confused with sprouts, but they are not the same. Sprouts are seeds germinated in water long enough to grow roots, stem, & underdeveloped leaves. Microgreens, in contrast, need a soil medium, sunlight, and take at least 10 days to grow before you can harvest them. Sprouts are also susceptible to bacteria growth because of the cramp growing conditions and the lack of air circulation.

Packed With Flavour
Microgreens were first produced in the US in the mid 1990s by chefs in California and quickly caught on. Today, they are used in the trendiest restaurants worldwide, both for presentation and taste. Most microgreens are packed with distinct flavours of their adult vegetable. They are versatile and can be used in most Asian and western dishes.
