ExpSAFE Blast Calculator Pro

by Gary Gibbs

What is it about?

ExpSAFE Blast Calculator Pro has been developed to enable blast analysis for Class 1 Explosives in order to support 'quick-scan' safety assessments.  This application is classified as a Level 1 Safety Analysis tool. Note the blast overpressure calculations were validated against US Army Technical Manual 5-855-1 ‘Fundamentals for protective design for conventional weapons’ (CONWEP). CONWEP is a recognised and appropriate modelling tool for calculating blast effects and is a well-validated model.

FEATURES OF THIS VERSION

This professional edition provides the following functionality:

* Ability to determine the blast effective yield based on Net Explosive Quantity and the TNT equivalence assigned to the type of explosives being consideration.
* Calculate the Blast Scaling factor based on the effective yield of explosives and the distance between the detonation and point of interest. Also included is the ability to toggle between imperial and metric units for input and output parameters.
* View a range of predicted hemisphere blast wave characteristics such as overpressure and impulse.  Note the results do not take into account munition case, shape, or structures around the point of detonation. Also included is the ability to toggle between pressure units Pascals and PSI when viewing blast outcome parameters.
* Display a brief summary of injury threshold distances based on scenario details, including estimated Sound Pressure Level (SPL) and 140 dB threshold distance.
* Displays a brief summary of damage threshold distances based on scenario details, including categories of damage.
* Estimate explosive yield of a gas vessel by taking it consideration the gas energy of explosion to determine it's TNT equivalency.
