App Store Description

Hello there! Welcome to Face2Face.

This app is designed for children with autism and their parents. So the children can learn spelling and social interaction at the same time in a fun and engaging way. It is created as a tool to assist in the improvement of language and social skills in children with autism.

Here are some of its unique features

Mirror Keypad – An innovative interface that allows 2 users, in this case parent and child, to sit face to face; it incorporates the use of high visibility keypads designed for autistic children.

Interactive Prompts – Voice and visual prompts in the app will appear when the child needs help.

Personalisation – Because each child is different, the vocabulary list and corresponding photos in the app can be changed.

Results tracker – Parents can keep track of the child’s progress, all within the app.

The Mirror Keypad is an original app interface that allows parent and child to sit face to face while using the app, making it intuitive for the child to look up into the parent’s face. It is an innovative design original to this app, so that 2 users can interact on the app at the same time. The keypad incorporates the design and colours of high visibility keypads, recommended for autistic children.

The app is preloaded with a list of words recommended for mid to high-level children between the ages of 4 to 6. However, each child learns differently. Please feel free to insert your own photos and words for a better learning experience.

While using the app, parents should follow the prompts provided by the app and encourage the child to interact with you.

Your child should always be supervised when using digital devices. Screen time should be allowed in moderation. We recommend using this app for up to an hour a day.

This app is developed together with Genesis School of Special Education, in consultation with psychologists at the Child Development Unit (CDU), under the Department of Paediatrics at the National University Hospital.
