App Store Description
The app is intended for employers and workers to help them guard against becoming victims of illegal labour providers and forced labour.
It will provide farmers and growers with guidance to help them strengthen their recruitment processes and prevent labour abuse and exploitation within their operations. It offers practical information and signposting on worker rights, freedom of movement and right to work, licensed labour providers and document verification.
For pickers and other workers, the app’s content is available in eight languages (Albanian, Bulgarian, English, Lithuanian, Romanian, Polish, Chinese/Mandarin and Vietnamese) and is designed to help them understand UK worker rights and what they can expect from legitimate employers and from this type of work.
As well as offering one-stop-shop access to lots of useful information and encouraging best practice, the app provides information about labour exploitation and the warning signs to look for from an employer, co-worker and victim perspective. It also includes a simple reporting tool for anyone who suspects exploitation may be happening or needs to seek help.
The app has been developed by The Clewer Initiative in partnership with the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA), the National Crime Agency (NCA), Modern Slavery Helpline (MSH), Church Commissioners for England, National Farmers’ Union (NFU) and the Fresca Group.
